The cornerstone to each college football recruiting class is landing the on the field leader in the huddle. The Razorbacks secured four verbal commitments leading into the weekend, and landed their prized fifth pledge on Sunday when four-star Alabama QB KJ Jackson called the Hogs.
Jackson covered the recruiting process that led to his commitment with the Razorbacks.
“It was awesome being recruited by coach (Sam) Pittman,” Jackson said. “It is like a dream and being recruited to an SEC school. Coach (Dan) Enos (QB) did a great job recruiting me. It will be wonderful to play for coach Enos. It was too hard to pass up the opportunity.”
The final decision came down to two programs with the Hogs pulling out ahead thanks to coach Pittman and coach Enos.
“I was split between UNC and Arkansas for about a month,” Jackson shared. “I started picking up my relationship with coach Pittman and getting to know him. I was also deepening my relationship with coach Enos. Over time, the relationship was so strong, I knew they were the school.”
Jackson continued on why he knew Arkansas was his next level fit, “It was multiple things, the relationships, seeing myself succeed, and playing for coach Enos.”
The Razorbacks got the good news in person earlier this week.
“I committed last Tuesday, on April 4,” Jackson said. “I told coach Pitt first in his office.”
Jackson shared coach Pittman’s reaction to the good news.
“He was very excited,” Jackson stated. “He stood up, gave me a hug, and said he was happy to get his quarterback. He told me and my parents, “it will be a long journey but a fun one”.”
Having a dream come true, Jackson went into depth on his feelings in the big moment.
“It was a big sigh of relief, and I enjoyed all of it,” Jackson said. “I am excited to get up there and play for them. The fanbase is amazing; they comment on everything on social media. Being a part of that family is huge. Being an SEC quarterback is a dream come true. I am so happy they picked me; I am 100 percent in with Arkansas.”
A date has not been set yet, but Jackson does plan to return to Fayetteville for an official visit.
