VENICE, Fla. – Heading into his fourth season as a difference maker on Florida’s varsity gridiron, three-star receiver Ryan Matulevich is laser focused. With the camp season behind him, attention turns to bringing home a trophy for the Indians. As Venice High School piles up the wins this fall, college programs are working out official travel details for the three-star prospect.
Teams have extended 14 scholarships to Matulevich (6-0, 175) with new looks coming his way.
“I am receiving interest from Cornell, Harvard, and I just had a really good camp with Virginia Tech,” Matulevich said. “I had a really good 40 (4.53) there; they’ve been hitting me up. Hopefully I will be able to continue growing those great relationships and turn them into offers.”
In addition to camping with the Hokies, Matulevich also displayed the skills with the Demon Deacons.
“I performed well at both of them,” Matulevich shared. “I did really well in the one on ones. That’s what you go for, that is where you show out. I feel that I dominated in the one on ones at both camps and showed out.”
With offers in hand from Appalachian State and Coastal Carolina, both coaching staffs welcomed Matulevich to campus this offseason.
“They were good,” Matulevich stated. “I had a good talk with their coaching staffs seeing where I am at on their board. I got to see what they are doing with the transfer portal and who they are bringing in. They were realistic with me as a player; we definitely had some good conversations.”
Official visits are now in the works.
“I am looking to go to Dartmouth, Wake Forest, and Coastal Carolina; I want to set visits up with them,” Matulevich said.
The opportunity to receive the three-star’s signed National Letter of Intent will come down to player recommendations.
“For me, it will be seeing if the players are enjoying their time,” Matulevich shared. “You can have the fanciest facilities in the world but if you are not happy it is not possible to do well. I want to talk to the players on my officials, spend time with them to see how they feel about the coaching staff, about the playbook, and how they have been treated. I want to get a feel on the schools that way.”
In between the recruiting calls and classroom work, Matulevich has one goal for his senior year after back-to-back state championship game berths.
“Finish, and get that ring this year,” Matulevich said. “Finish; that is my one goal. Everything else is out the window. These past two years have sucked to be honest, this year my goal is to finish it.”
Matulevich’s offer sheet includes Arkansas State, Appalachian State, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, Dartmouth, Florida International, Gardner-Webb, South Carolina, South Florida, Tennessee, Tennessee-Martin, Texas A&M, UCF, and West Virginia.
