Tom Herman and the Cougars continue to lockdown Houston area recruits
On Thursday May 21, 2015 a tide was turned in Texas when Cougars’ head coach Tom Herman gained a verbal commitment from highly regarded 5-star defensive tackle Ed Oliver. Immediately after the Houston area recruit announced his intentions to stay in his hometown for college, 4-star defensive tackle Jordan Elliott, 3-star offensive guard Dixie Wooten III, and 3-star defensive end Michael Johnson, all Houston area talents, verbally committed.
On Wednesday the Cougars locked down another area recruit, 3-star offensive guard Darta Lee.
Lee, listed at 6’3”, 294 pounds, picked the hometown Cougars over offers from Kansas, Illinois, Texas Tech, Colorado State, Louisiana Tech, Memphis, Nevada, and SMU among others. The Missouri City product is the second Hightower High School player to commit joining defensive end Michael Johnson, an earlier commit that effectively recommitted on Wednesday with Lee.
Herman now has seven verbal commitments to his 2016 recruiting class, each hailing from the Lone Star State.
