An interesting decommitment went down Monday night when three-star 2017 fullback Chase Lasater announced he was no longer part of Michigan’s recruiting class.
The Trinity Christian High School talent committed to the Wolverines on March 31 perhaps stunting his recruiting offers. The 6-2, 235 pound, recruit has other reported offers from Troy and Charlotte.
Lasater is a pit-bull as a fullback helping his Jacksonville team to a Florida 3A state title in 2015 with a perfect 14-0 mark. Lasater was the lead blocker, rarely a ball carrier with two carries for seven yards with one score during his junior campaign. He did double as an outside linebacker for the Conquerors coming up with 43 stops, 10.5 tackles for a loss, five sacks, five quarterback hurries, and a fumble recovery.
The Conquerors are off to a 4-2 start in 2016. Lasater’s role within the offense has increased slightly with five carries for 30 yards coupled with his 14 tackles and two tackles for a loss on defense in four games played.
Lasater posted his decommitment on Twitter with a statement:
Rivals ranks Michigan’s 2017 recruiting class No. 15 with nine players considered four-star talents.
