The recruiting battle continues for four-star receiver Zy’marion Lang. The new Cardinal Mooney (Sarasota, Fla.) playmaker has 32 scholarship options to mull over with a short list of teams he’s considering. On Wednesday, Kansas State gets their shot to win the 2024 prospect over during an official in Manhattan.
On July 3, Lang shortened his focus to Kansas State, Pitt, South Carolina, and South Florida.
Heading into a visit, Lang shared what he’s scouting in a program, “When I go to these schools, I go there to see who makes me feel at home, who will develop me, and who will help me get where I want to be.”
The trip into Big 12 country with the Wildcats from Florida was previewed.
“I am excited,” Lang said. “I have not been there, but they have been on me like the mob. I am ready to see how it is up there.”
The bond with the Wildcats’ staff was detailed.
“It is good,” Lang stated. “They have been on me since they offered me, now I get the chance to go up there. I hope it is good.”
On June 20, the Panthers hosted their four-star target.
“It was smooth,” Lang shared. “Pitt is probably one of the best spots to be. They have good coaches, all of them are good. It is good over there for sure.”
When Lang announced his list of favorites, he also shared his commitment date of July 30. The Gamecocks will officially host Lang post-commitment.
“I will be OV-ing there in the fall,” Lang stated.
Time was spent this summer with South Carolina.
“I visited South Carolina this summer; it went well,” Lang said. “I camped there and had a great time.”
Asked what it was like to work one-on-one with South Carolina’s coaching staff giving a glimpse into what it would be like as a player, Lang replied, “Yes, it was good. I could see myself in that environment. I was comfortable and having fun.”
Another official is set once the 2023 college football season begins.
“South Florida, I take that official in the fall,” Lang stated.
Insight into that rapport with the Bulls was given.
“I have been talking with coach (Alex) Golesh and coach (L’Damian) Washington, their receivers coach,” Lang shared. “We communicate about every day.”
For those trying to figure out which way Lang might be leaning, he shared, “All the schools in my top four have been after me since Day 1; they are all in the same spot.”
The ultimate decision will come down to a few factors.
“How I fit, the love there, the care, and stuff like that,” Lang said.
Lang played his junior season at Palmetto High School where he snagged 28 passes for 470 yards with five touchdowns leading the Tigers in all major receiving categories.
