Arguably the most prolific secondary player in the 2016 recruiting class narrowed down his list of top schools on Friday cutting 25 reported potential suitors down to 10.
In 2014 when the ball was snapped against Germantown High School chances are Nigel Knott was in on the play. He is credited with an amazing 112 tackles, through 12 games played, 4 interceptions, 16 pass breakups, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery, and even had time to register a sack.
The Madison, Mississippi Mavericks team marched through the season with a 10-2 record and the 5’11”, 175 pound, Knott was attracting attention from all the best programs in the nation. On Friday Knott posted his Top 10 in no order listing: Alabama, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, USC, Oregon, Florida State, Georgia, Louisville, and Mississippi State.
While the list of teams still in the running for Knott’s services at the next level is impressive, an equally impressive list is that of the teams that were cut. That list includes UCLA, Oklahoma, Miami, Michigan, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Florida, Cal, and Kansas State among others.
Knott has been diligent about the recruiting process taking unofficial visits to Tennessee, N.C. State, North Carolina, Clemson, South Alabama, Florida State, Alabama, and in-state powers Ole Miss and Mississippi State.
