Get Naeshaun Montgomery anywhere near the end zone, a scoreboard is about to light up. During his sophomore campaign, Montgomery turned 16 receptions into 251 yards converting half his opportunities into touchdowns. The growing, now 6-2, 175 pounds, four-star prospect has secured another impressive milestone passing the 40-offer mark.
USC hosted Montgomery recently with three more high-profile visits coming up this summer.
Since late May, Montgomery has seen his recruiting stock continue to rise. Ohio State, Oregon, Tennessee, Purdue, Florida State, Michigan, Georgia, and Illinois have added their scholarship opportunities into Montgomery’s mix.
After spring stops at Penn State, LSU, and Miami, the Cardinal Newman (West Palm Beach) prospect headed west to see the Trojans.
“It went great,” Montgomery said. “Their facilities are beautiful. They are building new facilities; they showed me the blueprints, it is going to be nice.”
The time in Los Angeles allowed Montgomery to connect with receivers coach Luke Huard.
“I am rebuilding a bond with them; they were my second offer,” Montgomery stated. “I have to rebuild the bond with the new receivers coach.”
A June visit to Athens to see the Bulldogs is being planned. The enthusiasm for the trip was covered.
“They are the two-time champs, their receivers coach (Bryan McClendon), and knowing that George Pickens went there – stuff like that,” Montgomery shared.
Two more visits are going down in July.
“I’m supposed to be going to Ohio State and Clemson,” Montgomery said.
Montgomery spoke about why he’s interested to head to Columbus.
“Coach (Brian) Hartline and I talk here and there when we get a chance,” Montgomery stated. “Knowing they are a receiver’s school, with Hartline, I hear a lot about coach Hartline.”
School ties has Montgomery ready to learn more about the Tigers.
“Coach Tyler (Grisham), and my receivers coach is Jacoby Ford; he wants to take me up there,” Montgomery shared.
Ohio State, Clemson, Miami, and LSU are the four schools making the most contact with Montgomery, that attention should turn into visits this fall.
“I’ll probably go to Ohio State, LSU, Miami, and other schools,” Montgomery said.
Up the coast from the Hurricanes, Miami’s new hire at his position has Montgomery excited to travel south.
“I feel great because they just got a new receivers coach, Kevin Beard, he is a great receivers coach,” Montgomery shared. “Mario Cristobal knows what he is doing over there.”
