Throughout the 2022 season, Braylon Vincent was a player Westwood High School (Fort Pierce, Fla.) could count on in any scenario. When the Wildcats were on offense, Vincent (6-0, 180) toted the rock 52 times for 497 yards with four touchdowns leading his team in rushing while securing six passes for 116 yards with another score. When the field was flipped, Vincent was shutting down 3S teams’ passing attack accumulating 31 stops. Nine offers have been dropped.
When the 2023 season kicks off, Vincent will reprise his role as the Wildcats’ do-all player.
“This season I will play running back some and receiver,” Vincent stated. “On defense, I will play corner and some safety.”
For next level scouts, Vincent is open to doing whatever it takes to get on the field.
“My favorite position is actually corner, but I don’t mind moving to running back to play wherever my coaches need me,” Vincent shared.
Part of Vincent’s spring workouts have been on the track to further develop his speed.
“I am coming out of track season, I made it to regionals, and now I am back to football in the weight room and working on my technique,” Vincent said.
Running the 100, 200, and 4×1, Vincent laid down some noteworthy times.
“I PR-ed (personal record) in the 200,” Vincent stated. “My best time in the 200 was 22.3 and my best in the 100 is 11.1.”
Now that spring ball is picking up on the gridiron, next level scouts are stopping by the Fort Pierce campus.
“My coach told me there are a lot of schools coming by this spring,” Vincent shared. “I know for sure FSU, Miami, NC State, Florida, Western Kentucky, Iowa State, and a couple of others. Bowling Green came the other day. Some schools have come during school and stayed for practice. Liberty and Florida have also come by.”
Interest is building among in-state programs Miami, FSU, and Florida with FSU, Liberty, WKU, and Iowa State working hard to build that bond. The Seminoles hosted Vincent this offseason.
“My first visit was to FSU, then we went to Auburn, UCF, and FAU,” Vincent said. “I am hoping to go to several schools this summer.”
The Seminoles made Vincent feel at home.
“It was great,” Vincent stated. “They were showing us great hospitality. Their coaches were showing a lot of interest; I felt comfortable there.”
The Knights welcomed Vincent with open arms.
“That was good as well,” Vincent shared. “Of all the visits, the coaches there were showing me real interest. They showed me around the campus, and all the coaches were talking to me and talking highly about me.”
Seeing the Tigers on The Plains made an impact.
“It went great,” Vincent said. “I went during their spring game. I got to see the coaching staff, how they coach, and how the players play and the way they act.”
At FAU, Vincent got time with Owls’ head coach Tom Herman.
“That was great,” Vincent stated. “I talked to their head coach, and coach Roc (Bellantoni – DC) talked to me and showed me around. I was with him the majority of the time talking about everything.”
A handful of visits are in the works for Vincent in the coming weeks.
“I might visit Liberty, Pitt, Miami, WKU, and Florida,” Vincent shared.
