The Golden Hurricane of Tulsa had a very successful season in 2020 as they finished 6-3 after ending 2019 with a record of 4-8. Suffering an opening game loss to Oklahoma State, Tulsa won six straight including wins over No. 11 Central Florida (34-26) on Oct. 3 and No. 19 SMU (28-24) on Nov. 14. However, the Golden Hurricane fell short against Cincinnati (27-24) in the American Athletic Conference Championship Game and to Mississippi State (28-26) in the Armed Forces Bowl.
During the early signing period last month, Coach Phillip Montgomery and his staff locked up letters of intent from six talented prospects from all over the region with some room for this class to grow in the next signing period in February. There is excitement ahead holding commitments from several key recruits.
The highest-rated recruit to sign with the Golden Hurricane is three-star dual-threat quarterback Braylon Braxton from Frisco (TX). Two talented defensive recruits who will make huge plays for the program in the coming years are linebacker Jaden Moore from Shreveport (LA) and safety Roderick Hopes from Jefferson (TX).
One commit who should sign next month is a three-star defensive end Owen Ostroski from Holland Hall High School in Tulsa. Two transfers joining the program are linebacker Jon-Michael Terry from Oklahoma and offensive guard Bryce Bray from Oklahoma State.
It will be exciting to see if the Golden Hurricane continue their current success and compete for that conference crown in 2021.
