On Tuesday, University of California-Davis got their first reported verbal commitment in the 2017 class when prolific Arizona quarterback Tehran Thomas pledged to the Aggies.
Over the past two seasons, Thomas has been about as dynamic a quarterback out there as there is against his peer group. During his sophomore season with Desert Edge, he completed 64 percent of his passes racking up 1,363 yards in the air with 15 scores against just three picks. On the ground, Thomas led his team with 1,598 rushing off 149 carries with 23 additional touchdowns sporting a 10.7 per carry average.
Working against Arizona Section III talent again in 2015, the 5’10”, 208 pound, playmaker was back at it besting himself on the stat line with 1,149 yards passing again connecting on 64 percent of his attempts with 17 touchdowns against four interceptions. The dual-threat bumped up his yardage on the ground covering 1,652 yards over 174 carries with 28 more scores.
The Aggies are bringing a winning pedigree into the system with Thomas. Over the past two seasons, Thomas has helped the Scorpions to a 22-4 record winning a state title in 2015.
Thomas posted his commitment statement on Twitter:
Thomas is reportedly being recruited to play running back for the Aggies.
The Scorpions start preseason action on Aug. 20 lining up against Centennial High School (Peoria).
