UCLA’s 2017 recruiting class is beginning to catch fire again after landing their fourth commitment in the month of August when Oregon offensive tackle Jaxson Kirkland committed to the Bruins.
Kirkland ran rough over opposing Class 6A competition during his junior season helping Jesuit High School to a perfect season. The Crusaders went 14-0 knocking off West Linn 21-14 for top honors. During the season to remember, the 6-6.5, 314 pound, tackle blew open doors for senior running back Jason Talley and helped keep quarterback Eric Restic’s jersey clean.
The Bruins kept Kirkland away from other Pac-12 schools like Cal, Oregon State, and Washington State while keeping him on the West Coast after offers from Iowa State, Hawaii, Purdue, and Texas Tech. Kirkland put an end to his recruitment posting a commitment statement on Twitter:
UCLA has been busy in recent weeks making up for some lost ground with some lost recruits. The Bruins class is on track to being stellar highlighted by five-star defensive end Jaelan Phillips and four-stars Kanan Ray and Jimmy Jaggers.
