Fans got a sneak peek at what William Jackson can do on the field this season, and what is to come, it is pretty amazing. Already ideal sized for the college ranks at 6-4, 195, Jackson is also gifted with a canon for an arm, wheels, and headiness for the game. The next two seasons with Winter Park will keep the heat on opposing Florida defenses while setting college coaches ablaze with his skills.
Jackson’s talents are perfectly suited for the modern game.
“We run a Spread mixed with some RPO (run-pass option),” Jackson stated. “We throw a lot of downfield routes – curls, posts, verticals, digs here and there, a lot of slants, bubbles, and drags.”
Taking on one of Florida’s top teams, Jackson showed he belonged on the field and what he will be able to do once he’s running the show in 2025.
“Against Jones, I had to go into that game mentally and physically ready,” Jackson said. “I had to rise to their level.”
Jackson continued, “I was able to move the ball downfield well. On offense we were good. I used my feet when there was no play there.”
That clicking in the pocket is happening.
“The game this season was slowing down,” Jackson shared. “I was picking up on things quicker and faster.”
An offseason plan is already in place.
“I am working on my feet, getting in the film room to study, and getting on the board,” Jackson stated. “The main thing is making sure my football IQ is higher, and I am mentally prepared for next season.”
Three teams can already see what Jackson can bring to their program.
Virginia Tech, South Carolina, and Arkansas have offered,” Jackson shared. “Baylor, Florida, Florida State, and Tennessee are showing interest. There are a lot of schools showing interest. The ones I listed are the main ones.”
Opinions on schools and coaching staffs are already being formed.
“This season I have been to USF, Virginia Tech, Florida, Auburn, South Carolina, Miami, and Jacksonville State in Alabama,” Jackson listed.
The Class of 2027 prospect spoke about visits to Florida, Miami, South Carolina, and Virginia Tech.
Florida: “It went really well. They didn’t have the outcome I wanted; I expected Florida to beat (Texas) A&M, but they played really well despite the loss. Coach (Ryan) O’Hara (OA-QB) and coach (Billy) Napier showed a lot of love. I have a great relationship with them.”
Miami: “It was really good. They played Duke; they left with the “W” (win). Miami has an explosive offense. I was excited to watch Cam Ward and see what he did. I added some of that to my game. I talked to the staff; I really liked Miami. I could see myself playing there.”
South Carolina: “It was great. The atmosphere there is one of the best I have been to so far. I like coach (Dowell) Loggains (OC/QB); his offense is explosive. They showed a lot of love and hospitality. It was great to see them play.”
Virginia Tech: “It was great. Virginia Tech is one of the schools at the top of the list. I like coach (Brian) Crist (QB), coach (Brent) Pry, and coach (Tyler) Bowen. Their offense is explosive with great game plans. They showed a lot of love and hospitality. I can’t wait to go back.”
A trip to Texas could happen soon.
“I am planning on going to Baylor soon,” Jackson said. “That is still in the works, and the logistics part of it.”
Jackson spoke about the growing bond with the Bears’ staff.
“The relationship is great,” Jackson shared. “I love that coaching staff. Every time I am there, they show a lot of love. Every time I am on campus that coaching staff shows a lot of hospitality.”
Jackson had a special shout out to his QB coach.
“I’d like to thank coach Baylin Trujillo for everything he has done for me and my family,” Jackson stated. “I want to thank him for helping me get to where I am at in my career.”
