Stepping up when called upon, Xzavier Jackson (6-1, 200) helped lead the Tampa Bay Titans (10-3) into the third round of the Florida 2023 high school playoffs. The developing 2025 pocket passer squared off against some of the Sunshine State’s best last fall, raising his profile along the recruiting trail.
After tossing the pigskin for 1,966 yards with 24 touchdowns, Jackson is back in the lab.
“I am working on being a better athlete outside of the pocket, and creating plays,” Jackson said. “Getting outside of the pocket last season, I either threw it away or slid. I am working on expanding my game outside of the pocket, I struggled with that last year.”
Arm talent is a weapon Jackson has that keeps the Titans’ playbook wide open.
“Throwing the ball is a strength,” Jackson stated. “I showed I can throw every ball – deep, medium, and short. I feel that is the biggest strength to my game.”
Asked what fans and/or scouts may miss when watching Jackson play, he replied, “I’d say my deep throwing abilities. We didn’t throw deep until the later part of the season. Everyone was asking if I could throw the deep ball. I know I have a big arm; I can throw it as far as I need to.”
Extra scrutiny on his mechanics is coming from coaches at The QB Stable.
“I am working with coach Chip and CJ Bennett at The Stable in Tampa,” Jackson shared. “We are working on everything. Nothing specific, I am just working to improve overall to be the best I can be.”
Recruiting attention is coming Jackson’s way.
“I’ve talked to South Carolina, UCF, North Dakota State, and Toledo,” Jackson said. “Those four schools I’ve been in contact with the most.”
Just down I-4, the Knights brought Jackson to campus twice for games.
“The relationship is there with UCF,” Jackson stated. “My receiver (Santonyo Isaac) committed there; they know about me. We are building that relationship.”
Over the winter and spring months, Jackson will get extra reps in playing in 7-on-7 tournaments with Team Tampa.
