The Trojans expanded their reach past Alabama and into Georgia in the 2017 class on Monday pulling in three-star strong safety C.J. Miller.
Miller was a big part of McEachern’s 10-2 season in 2015 getting the ultimate highlight for a defensive back, a 97-yard pick-six. Miller is the all-around kind of safety that all coaches covet able to come up and stop the run, cover, and drop back helping his corners out on long pass attempts.
As the Indians went through their 7A Georgia schedule, more and more coaches started taking notice in Miller’s abilities. The 6’1”, 188 pound, speedster, reports a 4.39 time in the 40-yard dash, had over 20 reported scholarship offers on the table when he committed to USC. Among the many included Auburn, Memphis, Arkansas State, Minnesota, Southern Miss, Western Kentucky, Toledo, and Central Florida.
USC offered on June 16 with Miller committing four days later. Miller posted his announcement on Twitter reading, “Blessed to say that I have committed to the University of southern cal [sic] #Fighton #Longlivegrandma.”
The Trojans now have nine verbal commitments to their 2017 class. USC previously went east for Alabama wide receiver Marlon Williams.
