The recruiting world has to be a blur for Round Rock High School defensive tackle James Lynch. During the off-season recruiting attention started coming at him left and right leading to a May 25 commitment to TCU. On Saturday, the love for the Horned Frogs flipped to the Men of Troy.
Lynch was a key contributor to the Dragons’ 8-3 mark in 2015 against 6A competition. The 6-4.5, 282 pound, rising star started showing out at during off-season camps leading to a slew of offers. Some of the early scholarships coming in came from Kansas, Air Force, Arkansas State, Texas Tech, New Mexico, and Kansas State. On May 16, TCU offered the Austin area talent leading to a commitment on May 25.
The recruiting wheel continued to churn for the Texas native with USC setting an offer on the table on June 8. On Aug. 18, Lynch decommitted from the Horned Frogs siding with the Trojans two days later. USC fans found out about their latest commitment via Twitter with Lynch posting, “So blessed to officially announce I’m committing to the USC Trojans!! #FIGHTON.”
The Trojans notched their 15th recruit with Lynch’s commitment. The early composition of the class should serve as a warning for California commits sitting back on USC, the Trojans do not have to wait for backyard talents to commit. Of the 15 players who have pledged, eight have come from outside the state of California.
