Utah lands three Class of 2016 commitments over the weekend

The Utes added two quality athletes and a possible defensive tackle to their 2016 class over the weekend pushing Utah’s verbal commitment haul to eight – possibly nine players.

The confirmed verbal commitments are Davir Hamilton and Daevon Vigilant.

Hamilton, a former SDSU commitment, is a do everything player for Verbum Dei High School in Los Angeles. The 6’3”, 200 pound, 3-star rushed for 543 yards on 86 carries with eight scores, pulled down 34 passes for 541 yards with another six scores, and even lined up under center completing 1 of 3 passes for 18 yards.

On defense Hamilton had 58 tackles and 17.0 tackles for a loss holding down the edge as an outside linebacker. College coaches saw the talent and started extending offers. Hamilton has offers from Arizona State, Washington State, UCLA, and Oregon State.

Vigilant helped lead Downey High School to a 10-4 record in 2014 filling in as an all-purpose running back. The 5’7”, 180 pound, athlete slashed his way to 1,873 yards on 212 carries with 11 touchdowns. He also caught 12 passes for another 193 yards.

Michigan, Navy, San Diego State, Army, Colorado, and Washington State have all extending offers for Vigilant.

The third possible addition to the class is David Fangupo. Fangupo is an under the radar recruit out of Cerritos Community College. Through nine games during the 2014 season he had 33 tackles, 4 tackles for a loss, and 2.0 sacks.

Rivals.com has reported that Fangupo has committed to Utah. At the time of post, no other recruiting service had confirmed Fangupo’s commitment to Utah or the Utes acceptance of his commitment.
