Vanderbilt Class of 2015 signee talks about NSD
OL Ean Pfeifer opens up about signing his LOI
A dream came for Bentonville High School offensive lineman Ean Pfeifer on Wednesday, he signed a letter of intent to play for Vanderbilt.
The 6’5”, 285 pound, road grader racked up 48 pancake blocks during his junior year and then added another 50 during his senior season helping his team win back-to-back Arkansas State Championships.
Despite having double-digit offers to various Division-I schools across the nation, Pfeifer knew early on he wanted to be a Commodore committing on June 15, 2014. Once all the National Signing Day excitement subsided, Pfeifer sat down to answer a couple of questions about his NSD experiences and how he felt the moment his dream became a reality.
Ean, when National Signing Day finally came, what thoughts went through your head leading up to the moment you signed your LOI?
“Just finally knowing that all my hard work has paid off was surreal. But I know that I have a long ways away to where I want to be before I go to Vandy.”
When you finally signed your LOI and faxed it in, describe how you felt at that moment.
“My dad looked at me and said “We did it” and it felt awesome. His support throughout the whole process has been great.”
Did any schools make a last ditch effort to flip you?
“No schools came in late.”
Was there any last minute/day-of drama?
“We had to find a long distance code for the fax machine so we were freaking out for a little bit.”
Looking at the class that was signed, how do you feel about your fellow signees?
“I’m impressed with our class. I would rank us first in the SEC. I feel like we have the most heart.”
Which players are you eager to meet and eager to practice against?
“Definitely my fellow O-line commits, can’t wait to get out there and practice with them.”
Do you know who will be your roommate when you get to campus?
“I have no idea who I’m rooming with yet.”
When do you report to campus?
“I report the first week of June.”
When do you get a playbook to start going all the new materials you’ll have to commit to memory before summer camp?
“They said after I sign, I should be expecting a playbook and workout stuff. I’m already working out with my strength and conditioning coach and he is helping me with me nutrition as well.”
