Football fans that dig the long ball are going to love Teddy Jarrad. Technically a freshman, Jarrard has been anything but that on the field this season with North Cobb Christian (Kennesaw, Ga.). The 6-2, 175-pound, talent has been slinging it all season putting big numbers in the stat sheet and wins on the board.
The Eagles (6-2) are riding a four-game winning streak romping through conference action with their rising freshman prospect hitting targets at a .603 percent clip covering 1,364 yards with 13 touchdowns.
“We run a Spread,” Jarrard said. “We like to go three wide with an H-back; we are versatile. Our offense is even in the run and passing game.”
The experience against Georgia varsity competition is pushing Jarrard’s skills forward in the pocket.
“I am learning a lot, especially as a freshman without a lot of experience,” Jarrard shared. “I am learning from a coach that has won a lot of games. My offensive coordinator has coached at the highest levels, I am taking in everything. I’m not lacking in ability; it is my mindset. I am learning how to control everything.”
Jarrard spoke about the aspects of his game he is doing well on the field this season.
“I feel like I have great accuracy and I read defenses well,” Jarrard stated. “I am able to find the seams, I find the pockets, and the open holes. Accuracy is probably my main thing.”
The big games showing off the skills have not been limited.
“There’s a lot of games I have played really well,” Jarrard said. “There have been some games where the weather conditions weren’t great, or we were killing them on the run and we kept running. I’ve had multiple good games. Washington and Therrell are two of my really good games. Both were blowout wins. Christian Heritage was a good one too.”
A backyard Power Five team has taken notice in Jarrard’s growing abilities.
“I have been on two visits to Georgia Tech,” Jarrard stated. “I know a lot of guys down at Georgia Tech, and they know me. I went to their first game at home against South Carolina State.”
Jarrard continued, “It was good. I’m close with Tim McFarlin, their director of high school recruiting. I talked to him and a lot of the recruits. It was a good time.”
Another ACC team has left an open game-day invite for Jarrard.
“Clemson, I have a visit there coming up,” Jarrard shared. “I am waiting on the information from them. They said I could pick a game. I have to find out when I can go because I have baseball on the weekends.”
For now, baseball is a passion, but football is the heart.
“I’ve always played baseball on the side, football is my main sport,” Jarrard stated. “I play to be competitive and stay active. I play at a high level.”
The Eagles are back in action on Friday taking on Mount Paran Christian.
