Standing at 6-1, 180 pounds, college scouts love Raheim Sexil’s size and length that goes along with his cover skills and speed at corner. The 2024 prospect shutdown 4M Florida receivers last fall with Sumner High School, but will suit up with Manatee High School (Bradenton, Fla.) this season. Sexil’s abilities got extra looks this spring with the Hurricanes bringing forward six offers with scouts interested in him at corner, safety, and nickelback.
Displaying his versatility for college coaches is part of his senior year mission.
“I will be moving around,” Sexil stated. “I usually just play one position, but this year I want to showcase my flexibility and versatility. You will see me at safety, probably nickel, but mainly at corner.”
Asked at which positions college coaches are recruiting him to play, Sexil replied, “They are recruiting me to play corner mostly, but there are a couple of coaches that have asked if I can play safety because of my length.”
The spring months brought more scouting recognition to Sexil.
“The first one was Virginia, from there it was the schools that offered me like UNC-Charlotte, UAB, FIU, Miami – schools like that,” Sexil said.
Sexil continued sharing the programs showing interest, “Virginia, they haven’t offered yet, New Hampshire, I have been talking to them about a visit, Northern Illinois, and a few others.”
The weeks ahead will allow Sexil to bond with coaches in North Carolina.
“I am trying to take one to North Carolina to see UNC-Charlotte and Wake Forest,” Sexil stated. “Wake Forest has also been talking to me. I’m trying to take one there while I’m at UNC-Charlotte.”
The rapport with the 49ers’ coaching staff was detailed.
“I like them,” Sexil shared. “I like their coaches’ energy. When they came to visit, and gave me the offer, I mixed with his energy a lot. I got a good vibe. I am feeling them.”
Other opportunities to get on college campuses to show off the talents are upcoming for Sexil.
“I am going to FSU, Valdosta, some other mega camps, and Mercer,” Sexil stated.
The offer sheet for Sexil includes Charlotte, UAB, Florida International, Stetson, Morgan State, and Marshall.
At the end of his junior year with the Stingrays, Sexil was credited with 22 stops, a pick, and three passes defended.
