Video Gallery Part 1: USC Football Camp Clips from Wednesday
Written by Ryan Wright
The USC Trojans camp was chalked full of elite players from across the nation on Wednesday. Among the many in attendance included Daelin Hayes (Detroit, MI), Frank Martin (Santa Ana, CA), Velus Jones (Saraland, AL), Amari Rodgers (Knoxville, TN), Najee Harris (Antioch, CA), Netori Johnson (Ellenwood, GA), Stephen Carr (Fontana, CA), Terrell Bynum (Anaheim, CA), Wyatt Davis (Bellflower, CA), Mason Vinyard (La Mesa, CA), Tua Tagovailoa (Honolulu, HI), Thomas Graham (Corona, CA), Austin Jackson (Phoenix, AZ), Maleik Gray (La Vergne, TN), Isaiah Pryor (Lawrenceville, GA), Aaron Banks (El Cerrito, CA), Josh Falo (Sacramento, CA), Donovan People-Jones (Detroit, MI), Nigel Knott (Memphis, TN), Evan Weaver (Spokane, WA), Jordan Elliott (Houston, Texas).
The camp was full of players who rose above the rest during the non-pad scrimmage. Daelin Hayes was given top defensive line MVP for the morning session and Frank Martin received top offensive line honors. Hayes was tested in different ways even showing his ability to drop back in coverage running stride for stride with running backs on wheel routes.
Running back Najee Harris was ripped and looked ready for pads making several elite cuts and moves. Velus Jones showed great hands throughout and Hawaii talent Tua Tagovailoa flashed his arm and accuracy throughout the camp.
Washington Class of 2016 talent Evan Weaver showed why he is a prized recruit in the 2016 class taking out two linemen at a time on multiple snaps during his scrimmage time.
USC may have an inside track on Knoxville area wide receiver Amari Rodgers. His father, Tee Martin, is the Trojans wide receivers coach in charge of coordinating the USC passing attack. Rodgers had a great camp flashing his speed and hands impressing the crowd on hand.
Seeing the potential of having Frank Martin, Austin Jackson, and Netori Johnson form the nucleus of a future USC front line is mind boggling to say the least. Good luck to future Pac-12 defenses hoping to stop the Trojans’ offense if all three end up matriculating onto the Los Angeles campus in the near future. USC has a lot of work to do to make it happen, Johnson is verbally committed to Alabama’s 2017 class. One to watch is St. John Bosco offensive lineman Wyatt Davis.
The clips are various plays executed during the USC Trojans camp.
