The 2017 recruiting class is top heavy with tremendous offensive tackles positioned to be three- and four-year starters at the next level who should also be the next wave of All-Conference and All-American performers. Among the many difference makers college coaches are praying to receive a faxed National Letter of Intent from on National Signing Day is from 4-star recruit Chuck Filiaga.
Filiaga is a solid 6’5.5”, 334 pound, lineman who can pass block as well as road grade on running plays. His reported offers are just over 20 but the reality is more than 30 schools have extended scholarships hoping to be the winner in the Filiaga LOI stakes. Among the teams pushing includes a recent offer from Arkansas, USC, UCLA, Stanford, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Baylor, TCU, Arizona State, Cal, Florida, Arizona, South Carolina, Oregon, and Washington.
In a Recruiting News Guru exclusive interview, I caught up with Filiaga at the Nike Opening regional in Los Angeles getting a recruiting news update and we talked about his unofficial visit to USC for the Trojans Junior Day.
