The last couple of seasons have been tough on the field for MacArthur High School but the Houston area team has had one really bright spot through the ups-and-downs, defensive end Isaiah Chambers. Despite a losing record, the Generals strong-side defensive end was so highly though of for his play he was voted 6A District Defensive MVP for the 2015 season, 6A All-District Football Academic First-Team, and earned second team All-State honors for a second consecutive year.

Chambers is the prototypical difference maker lining up on the right or left side with a hand on the ground and even blocks punts creating chaos when the opposition has the ball. The Class of 2016 recruit is every bit of his 6’4”, 255 pound, listing using his size, speed, and raw power for a breakout junior campaign that included 32 tackles for a loss, 21 sacks, and four forced fumbles.

The four-star recruit has attracted interest from college recruiters near and far pushing 30 offers to date. Some of the teams hoping to lure Chambers to their campus includes Notre Dame, Oregon, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Missouri, Michigan, Oklahoma, Georgia, Houston, Cal, Boise State, Baylor, and Arkansas. Washington (Sept. 19), Arizona State (Nov. 20), and TCU were the apparent frontrunners after visits but the Horned Frogs have maintained their Sept. 25 verbal commit throughout the process.

Before Chambers heads off to TCU becoming a headache for opposing Big 12 offensive coordinators, he was selected to play in the Semper Fidelis All-American Game in Carson, California, as a member of the West squad. Chambers has continued his strong play against top national talent during practices in preparation for the big game on Jan. 3 airing on FOX Sports 1 at 9:00 p.m. ET.

In a Recruiting News Guru exclusive interview, I caught up with Isaiah after a West squad practice on Friday to get his thoughts on the Semper Fi game and an update on his recruiting status.
