The Hokies Junior Day was an immediate success landing a verbal commitment from 4-star defensive end Tyjuan Garbutt on Saturday.

Some of the schools seeking his talents at the collegiate level includes Iowa State, Kentucky, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Penn State, Oklahoma, North Carolina, Pitt, West Virginia, Syracuse, Maryland, and Tennessee.
Garbutt made his commitment public on Twitter posting, “”First off, without God this would not be possible. I would like to thank my family and friends for their love and support. I also want to thank all of the college coaches for the opportunity to attend their universities. I am extremely blessed and excited to announce I have committed Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University #LunchPailD #HokieNation.”
Riverbend used Garbutt’s talents on both sides of the ball during his junior year making the best of the opportunities earning All-Conference selections at wide receiver and at defensive end. He was also a FLS and All-Region selection at defensive end.
