The big hits on the field for Osceola High School (Kissimmee, Fla.) are bringing offers off it for Robert Lee (6-0, 210). The former FBU All-American has been roaming the box for the Kowboys [sic] seeing his name rise on recruiting boards among collegiate staffs. Eight next level opportunities are in hand with interest among ACC and SEC programs climbing.
Teams are telling Lee why they are dropping the offer.
“They say that I am a very aggressive player with a good strike zone when tackling and that I will for sure be that guy in college making that tackle and pursuing to the football,” Lee said.
Akron, Appalachian State, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Kentucky, North Carolina A&T, UCF, and Western Kentucky want him as part of their 2025 class with other connections building.
“Schools showing interest are Louisville, Pitt, South Dakota State, Charlotte, Georgia Tech, and Mississippi State,” Lee stated.
Lee continued, “Kentucky and UCF, they were my first two. They always keep in contact. I have a good bond with both coaching staffs.”
The Wildcats and Knights were among the teams welcoming Lee to their stadiums this season.
“I went to Kentucky, Mississippi State, UCF, and FAU,” Lee shared. “I went to three UCF games.”
While in Lexington, Lee got to see the Wildcats take on the Crimson Tide.
“It went well,” Lee said. “I loved the energy they have. It was a very good game against Alabama. They didn’t play their best, but the atmosphere made me feel at home.”
The repeated trips to see the Knights have developed a tight bond between player and coaches.
“The visits were great,” Lee stated. “It is at a point going to UCF, I can go any day, and they are so close. I can spend time with the coaching staff when I go there. It is home, and so close to my home. I get to spend time with the coaches there, and chill with the fans on game day.”
More visits are being planned for the 2024 schedule.
“I am going to the schools that have offered me next year, and the ones showing interest,” Lee shared.
After racking up 72 stops, 30 solo, with 15 tackles for a loss, four sacks, two picks, and with two passes broken up, Lee spoke about his junior run.
“We ran a 4-2 with an overhang with a linebacker/defensive back hybrid,” Lee explained. “We had two linebackers in the box. I played inside linebacker, but I can play all around. I played all three of our linebacker positions. Sometimes they would walk me down when we switched into a 5-2 against a heavy run team.”
Lee spoke about how his skills progressed after 11 games against tough 4S Sunshine State offenses.
“My biggest improvements, last year I made it known I could tackle, I showed this year that I can play outside linebacker, that I can get picks, get sacks, and go sideline to sideline. I showed I can run more instead of going downhill every time.”
Asked if we were to watch his best game of the 2023 season which game would we be watching, Lee quickly gave, “I’m putting on Jones at home. I feel like I was explosive throughout the whole game, and I got a pick. As soon as the game began, on the first play, I got a sack. I was playing downhill that whole game.”
