Jade Card has shown what he can do on the field, yet he still has great upside and is growing. Already a big target (6-3, 195), Card was fearless during his sophomore campaign repeatedly going across the middle for South Broward High School (Hollywood, Fla.) doing whatever it takes to make a play. His junior season is set up to be a breakout year already putting up fantastic stats.
Full stats from Card’s 2022 season have not been released, but through seven games posted he secured 29 passes for 492 yards with three touchdowns. In addition to turning in team-highs for the Bulldogs as a receiver, he also played some Wildcat and delivered the rock to his receiver teammates on the outside.
This fall, Card is now suiting up with Miami Norland with the intent to make the college football recruiting world take notice.
“My goals for the 2023 season, I want 45 receptions, 1,000 yards, named All-Dade, win a state title, be named the MaxPreps Player of the Year, and be the top junior in the state and in the nation,” Jade stated. “This season, I am going big,”
The Vikings’ offense scheme that will help Card achieve his goals was outlined.
“We run a Spread, we go with two backs – we run everything,” Card said. “We rotate the offense, everyone gets in, but if you get the ball you have to do something with it.”
Card has been preparing for his new role throughout the offseason.
“My whole summer I was working on my skills as a receiver,” Card shared. “I worked on my breaks, fast stops, quick stops, and my hands. My hands got 10 times better this offseason. My weight has improved, and my strength has improved.”
In the season opener against Lakeland, Card hauled in five passes for 154 yards with two trips into the end zone helping the Vikings win 48-34.
Teams like Florida State, Georgia Tech, Miami, Pitt, and South Florida have handed over scholarship opportunities giving Card 12 total with a whole lot of schools taking interest in him.
“Florida, Oklahoma, Penn State, Charlotte, Alabama, Coastal (Carolina), Auburn, Liberty, Wake Forest, and Maryland,” Card said.
Working his craft at college camps with Miami, UCF, Florida, and Georgia Tech, those who have seen Card in person are among the many keeping in regular contact.
“The teams reaching out the most are FSU, UCF, the Florida Gators, Toledo, Louisville, and Miami,” Card stated.
The Seminoles welcomed Card to campus over the summer.
“It was great,” Card shared. “It was definitely great. My cousin Quinton Flowers (QB USF – 2014-17), he knows the receivers coach at FSU, coach (Ron) Dugans), from his time at USF. We have a really good connection.”
Because of the visit to Coral Gables, the relationship with the Hurricanes is getting stronger.
“It was great,” Card said. “I built chemistry with their coaches; they are staying in contact with me. They are talking to me.”
The time at Louisville went so well, Card wants to return.
“That visit was great,” Card stated. “That was great. I want to go back again; I want to go back and see a game. I like their coaches. When I walked in, everyone was there shaking my hand; that was inspirational. I want to visit again.”
The next round of visits is not set, but if Card has his way, he will be all over the eastern part of the U.S. this fall.
“I want to visit Miami, UF, Toledo, Louisville, Auburn, Coastal, FSU, Auburn, and Maryland,” Card shared.
The Vikings are back on the field Friday, Sept. 1, taking on Carol City.
