High School Football in Washington was canceled in the fall of 2020 but ultimately some parts of the state are starting practice this week to kick off their new campaign in March of 2021. One of the rising stars in the state who is anxious to get back on the gridiron is Arlington junior quarterback Trent Nobach.
Nobach threw for 1,874 yards, 19 touchdowns, and completed 60.4 percent of his throws while leading the Eagles to a 7-3 record in his sophomore season in 2019. After the season, he was named first team All-League.
This 6’2”, 185-pound, gunslinger has a strong and accurate arm while also possessing good field vision and a high football IQ.
This Class of 2022 recruit is currently working hard to earn his first college offer as he already garnering interest from colleges.
Not only does Nobach star on the football field but is also featured on the basketball and golf teams and holds a 3.85 GPA in the classroom.
In an exclusive Recruiting News Guru interview, I caught up with Trent to talk about his sophomore season, his preparations for his junior season, and get an update on his recruiting process.
Interview
Trent, how would you grade your individual performance during your sophomore season?
I would grade my individual performance of my sophomore season as a B, just because I felt like there was so much more potential and room for me to grow.
What would you say was your best game and why?
I would say my best game was when we played Meadowdale. In that game, I tied the record for most passing touchdowns with six TDs. I went 12 of 14 with six touchdowns and 324 yards in the game.
What are your strengths on the field?
My strengths on the field are my abilities to read the field, make smart decisions, lead and command the offense, as well as being able to make any throw on the field. I would consider myself to have a strong arm.
Did you receive any individual honors in 2019?
I received first team All-League quarterback as a sophomore last year.
What game in your junior season are you most looking forward to playing?
I am looking forward to playing our rivals the Stanwood Spartans. It’s always so intense and each year both teams bring their A-game.
What have you worked on the most during the offseason?
I have worked on my speed and footwork the most this offseason so that I can become more of a runner if I have to. I’ve always been a pocket passing QB, and I still am but I can now take off if needed.
What was your workout and practice schedule while football was postponed in your state?
We didn’t have practice until this week for football, but every morning at 6:30 am I would get up and go to the gym with some of my wide receivers and lineman.
Would you consider yourself a dual-threat or pro-style quarterback?
I would definitely consider myself a pro-style QB.
What do you like most about playing quarterback?
I love that the QB position takes control of the offense and is the leader. Everything goes through the QB and it is my job to make sure everything runs smoothly. I love that the game of football is like a chess game between the offense and defense. And I just love the atmosphere football has on the community
Is there an NFL player that you try to model your game after?
Tom Brady. He completely understands the game and understands what the defense is trying to do on every play. He was never the fastest or most agile, but he can make any play and any throw. Brady always bets on himself
What is your fastest 40-yard dash time?
4.9.
What do you like the most about playing at Arlington High School?
I love playing at Arlington High School because of the Air Raid offense and everyone in the community goes to the games.
Do you play any other sports in high school?
I play basketball and I’m on the golf team.
Who is your biggest role model?
My biggest role model would be my dad, who shows each and every day how to be a man of God. He’s always doing whatever he can to provide for my family.
Do you have any college offers?
I do not have any college offers but I have been in touch with many colleges over the last few months just waiting to send out my film for my junior season.
What is your GPA?
3.85.
Do you have a favorite quote or Bible verse?
Philippians 1:21.
Thank you for your time.
Thank you, sir.
