The Huskies 2018 class is off to a great start with three highly prized verbal commitments. On Friday, Washington landed their first pledge in 2017 when California wide receiver Austin Osborne committed.
Osborne was a key piece to Mission Viejo’s 11-1 season in 2016 helping the Diablos to a California end of season state ranking of No. 8 by MaxPreps. The 6-3, 185 pound, target racked up a team-high 961 yards with 16 touchdowns scored off just 36 receptions. Osborne scorched opposing defenses for a 26.7 yard per reception average during his junior campaign.
College coaches from across the country did not hesitate to offer Osborne with Tennessee, Michigan, Miami, North Carolina, Vanderbilt, Louisville, and Duke getting into the mix. Pac-12 programs like Arizona State, Cal, Colorado, Oregon, UCLA, and Utah dropped offers as well. The recruiting process essentially ended with an announcement posted on Twitter by Osborne reading, “COMMITTED.” The post had the following statement attached:
247Sports ranks Washington’s class No. 15 in the nation, No. 2 in the Pac-12. Jacob Sirmon and Osborne are both considered four-star talents while Jack Sirmon is rated as a three-star.
