In Mike Leach’s offense, the Washington State Cougars can never have too many wide receivers. On Monday, Washington State added receiver No. 5 to the 2016 recruiting class landing a verbal commitment from Isaiah Johnson.
Johnson burst onto the scene during his junior year pulling down 38 passes for 791 yards with eight touchdowns. During his senior year, he helped Dwyer High School to an 11-2 record in 2015 making it to the second round of the Florida High School Football Playoffs before falling to national powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas 24-7.
The big 6’3”, 212 pound, receiver has had a rough go with recruiting committing to Louisville and Miami and then the Florida Gators in March. Johnson took an official visit to Pullman on Dec. 4 after receiving an offer from the Cougars on Nov. 17. Florida hosted Johnson on Sept. 26 for an unofficial visit, received a visit from Jim McElwain on Dec. 7, and then took an official to Gainesville on Dec. 11. On Dec. 13, Johnson decommitted from Florida committing to Washington State the next day.
Other schools offering Johnson includes West Virginia, Auburn, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Central Florida, Temple, South Florida, Utah State, Bowling Green, and Illinois among others.
