Washington State Gains Verbal Commitment from Prolific Texas QB Cody Brewer
Written by Ryan Wright
Around noon Pacific Time on Friday Washington State head coach Mike Leach landed a big recruit from Texas who could be a program changer, quarterback Cody Brewer.
Brewer is the definition of an under the radar recruit with a lot of talent. The 6’6”, 225 pound, pro-style quarterback tore it up for Flour Bluff high school in 2014 passing for 3,261 yards with 35 touchdown. He even picked up another nine on the ground helping the Hornets to a 12-1 record advancing to the third round of the Texas High School Playoffs.
The commitment became official with a post on Twitter from Brewer reading, ““Blessed to say I’ve committed to play football at Washington State!!”
The competition for Brewer was not overly stiff. The only other reported offer was from Sam Houston State.
Washington State now has 10 verbal commitments with one of the 10 being Federal Way High School quarterback D’jimon Jones (6’1”, 170).
