Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. ET, the Grayson Rams will get their due from the Loganville (GA) community. The love and support of the fans mixed with the players and coaches’ hard work throughout the 2024 high school football season will be highlighted in a mutual admiration parade. The Rams (14-1) steamrolled through their regular season schedule and the playoffs bringing home a trophy after topping Carrollton 38-24. Off the field, their leader in the offensive huddle, Travis Burgess (6-5, 205), is now also getting his due along the recruiting trail.

The breakout season that ended with a Georgia State championship on the gridiron may be accompanied by a trophy on the hardwood.

“Our basketball season is going well,” Burgess said. “We are currently 17-2. We are No. 1 in the state and in our region. We have a few games coming up and some tournaments coming up. We want to get a good seeding for our state playoffs and hopefully we get an invite to the national tournament. Overall, we are having a great season, and we are having fun on the journey, and also working hard.”

Burgess added, “We played Sierra Canyon (CA); that was a good experience going to another state to play top tier teams. It was an awesome experience even though we lost. It was an awesome game, and a crazy environment. It was shoulder to shoulder, a packed house, and a great experience.”

With all that is going on, Burgess is still working on his game as a quarterback this offseason.

“My workouts have been good,” Burgess stated. “We are doing a lot more lifting, more than during the season. During the season, we workout but we save our legs. We are going to work every day. I have been managing my QB training with basketball; two to three times a week I am doing my QB training. I see the new 2025 Grayson team progressing and going after it every day.”

The arm has to stay hot with college coaches from around the country coming to see him throw in person.

“College coaches are coming by to see me throw,” Burgess shared. “Today, Michigan State will be here at 3:00; they want to see me throw.”

Now holding 10 offers with Auburn, Kennesaw State, and Delaware jumping into the mix, Burgess spoke about his new recruiting interest, “Michigan State, they reached out a couple of weeks ago. Stanford, their head coach is coming on Friday to see me. Western Virginia, Arkansas State, and Liberty are also showing interest.”

More was details on college coaches making a stop in Loganville were provided, “Over the past few weeks, coaches are coming by to see is he really 6-5? And they want to see me throw. Last year they wanted to see how I did during the season; now they have seen the film. They want to see my size and see me throw. Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Delaware, and Kennesaw State have stopped by.”

Showing he is still clutch in the offseason, the arm skills landed an offer.

“I threw for Delaware,” Burgess said. “It went well. I threw for their DB coach. Their QB coach wanted him to see a few things; they liked what they saw and pulled the trigger and offered.”

As schools head to the Grayson campus, this weekend Burgess will see one of his offering schools.

“I am going to Auburn this Saturday,” Burgess stated. “That is the only one scheduled thus far.”

Asked about hanging with the Tigers this weekend, Burgess replied, “I am excited to be able to get on campus again, meet the whole coaching staff, develop personal relationships, and meet the other recruits. I want to see the community. I want to see if that is a place where I could live. If I like everything, it would be in mind as a school to go to.”

Burgess spoke about the Grayson Rams’ parade happening tonight.

“It will be held in our city park in Grayson,” Burgess said. “It is for the fans and the community. Anyone can come out and support us. They get to see what a winning program looks like. For the players, it is a chance to get their recognition for the hard work put in this season.

“We will be showing love to the community. For the younger kids, they get to see what a championship team looks like so they can develop their dreams and aspirations for when they are in high school.”

Asked about what that moment will be like receiving more support from the Grayson community, Burgess responded with, “It will be, honestly, I will take everything in. All the hard work put in, I want to take it all in. This was me. I want to thank the community for their support, the fund raisers, attending the games and give it back to the them.”

The road to the Rams’ state title saw Burgess throw for 2,255 yards with 23 scores while rushing 58 times for 596 yards punching it into the end zone four times.
