Interview
The Wolverines had another hard-fought game against Bryant (17-10) in Week 3. The defense did a good job of limiting Bryant’s offense to 17 points. What worked well for you guys against the Hornets’ offense?
“We came at it. We’ve had some negative comments about the defense, that we were not producing in the first two games. The entire school was there – we came at it. All the juniors and seniors, we gathered around and pledged to get better. We pledged to play as hard as we can, do our job, and handle our responsibilities the best that we can. We want to be the best defense we can be.”
How did the game go for you?
“I think I had about 10 tackles and a sack. I did alright playing inside linebacker. I feel more comfortable at outside linebacker, but I think I can help the team more at inside linebacker.”
This week is a bye week for the team, what are you doing and/or working on this week?
“It has been a chill week. We have been preparing for Fayetteville. The Bulldogs are our first conference game. They are playing Bryant this week while we are focused in on them for next week.”
The Fayetteville offense is putting up some points behind Darius Bowers’ throwing and running abilities. How do you guys plan to stop him or slow him down?
(Laughs) “They know what we are doing, they know we are going to attack the QB. I feel like we can pressure him into bad throws and some bad plays. Without giving away the game plan, we will attack their quarterback.
“Bowers, he is good. He is a D-I QB. Bryant and Owasso’s quarterbacks were good too. We have to get after it. We will be ready.”
Since we spoke last week are there any new recruiting updates?
“I may visit Ole Miss for the Alabama game with Jadon Jackson. Ole Miss has been in contact with me. We’ll see if it works out.”
If you go, has you excited about the game?
“That will be a great game. Ole Miss can get after them with their nasty wide outs. I am excited to see Alabama’s quarterback (Tua Taovailoa). Tua got to Georgia in the national championship game which hurt growing up in Georgia as a Bulldogs fan.”
You keep hinting about an upcoming commitment, is that still a possibility?
“Yes, sir. Sept. 20 is my commitment date. I had planned to do it earlier, but I could not make up my mind. That is the official date.”
Good luck with your announcement on Thursday, and good luck at Ole Miss if the visit works out.
“Thank you.”
