The Mountaineers secured their second running back commitment to the 2017 class on Thursday when Alec Sinkfield pledged to West Virginia.
Sinkfield has been a big part of the Stallions 11-2 season in 2014 and 10-3 mark in 2015. The 5’10”, 190 pound, speedster filled in as a tailback in the I-formation on offense and returned punts and kicks for American Heritage High School (Delray Beach, FL) during his junior campaign.
Recruiting was starting to take off for Sinkfield with recent offers coming in from Louisville and Purdue and Syracuse, North Carolina, Florida Atlantic, and Kentucky all putting scholarships on the table when he verbally committed to WVU. The Mountaineers offered Sinkfield on Dec. 8.
West Virginia now has three verbal commitments to their 2017 recruiting class.
