The 2016 recruiting class inked all their National Letters of Intent less than two months ago but the pressure for the 2017 recruiting class under center is already mounting. One of the key positions that typically gets filled early on in every yearly football haul is at quarterback. Several top dual-threats and pro-style gunslingers have already verbally committed to top schools leaving a chess game or in some cases a wait and see approach to National Signing Day 2017.

Of the Top 25 quarterbacks listed on Rivals pro-style rankings, 14 are already verbally committed to Power Five Conference programs. Of the 25 dual-threat quarterbacks, 10 are already committed leaving 26 highly rated players overall to fill a few wanted spots left open at the collegiate level. True to past history, there will be more than one, if not a dozen or more, under the radar recruits that will emerge through the college camp circuit followed up by an outstanding senior season that will skyrocket said player into the rankings giving college recruits more talents to pick and choose from. The other end of the spectrum will be the open spots left available for the currently uncommitted to top programs or in other words, which teams are still willing to bring on a quarterback in the 2017 class.

As the recruiting rankings currently stand, the following information will outline who is slated to go where and what teams will be in search of that class building talent to build around in the huddle.

ACC

Clemson and Miami are the rare teams with two quarterbacks verbally committed. Florida State, Louisville, Syracuse, Wake Forest, Boston College, North Carolina, Pitt, Duke, Virginia, and Georgia Tech are still in the market. North Carolina State has 3-star quarterback Matt McKay.

Big 12

TCU, Oklahoma, Texas, and Baylor all have quarterbacks committed leaving Kansas, Texas Tech, and West Virginia as open recruiters. Iowa State took 3-star quarterback Devon Moore and Kansas State has 3-star Dewayne Betts.

Big Ten

Most of the Big Ten is still wide open especially in the West Division. Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State all have quarterbacks. Purdue pulled an under the radar recruit in Griffin Alstott out of the Tampa area. Rutgers, Maryland, and Indiana in the East and Northwestern, Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, and Illinois are still in search of a top quarterback.

Pac-12

There is always a lot of quarterback talent along the west coast but so far only Stanford and Oregon have reported verbal commitments from top prospects with Arizona taking under the radar in-state recruit Rhett Rodriguez. The race will be on between Cal, USC, UCLA, Washington, Washington State, Arizona State, Colorado, and Oregon State to land a playmaker.

SEC

There are big schools in the SEC still searching for a quarterback, and maybe some wanting multiple signal callers. Texas A&M has the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback committed in Tate Martell but do not be surprised if the Aggies try to land a second recruit at this position. Arkansas, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, Mississippi State, and South Carolina all have quarterbacks leaving Alabama, Auburn, LSU, and Ole Miss in the West and Tennessee, Vanderbilt, and Missouri in the East as open for business.
