First-year Gamecocks head coach Will Muschamp may have pulled off his greatest recruiting feat for the 2016 class getting linebacker Skai Moore to return to South Carolina as announced on Thursday.

South Carolina had a season to forget in 2015 finishing 3-9, 1-7 in SEC play, after a seven-win season in 2014 and back-to-back 11-win seasons from 2011-13. The ability to win in Columbia was proven under former head coach Steve Spurrier and the future looks bright in South Carolina with Muschamp leading the way.

Getting Moore to return is a big win for Muschamp and his staff. The 6’2”, 218 pound, talent has been a playmaker on defense for the Gamecocks since his true freshman season when he earned Freshman All-SEC honors after leading the team with 56 tackles in 13 games played. Moore upped his on the field play as a sophomore coming up with a team-leading 93 stops. Moore had an All-SEC season in 2015 once again leading South Carolina in stops with 111 while coming up with a team-high four interceptions with a team-high tying four pass breakups.

Moore was a 4-star recruit out of University School in Fort Lauderdale as part of the 2013 haul that also included do-everything athlete Pharoh Cooper.

South Carolina currently has 17 verbal commitments to their 2016 recruiting class with one linebacker onboard, 3-star Clarke County High School (Grove Hill, AL) Jacorey Morris.
