Wisconsin Keeps Recruiting Ball Rolling Landing LB Jake Ferguson and WR Cade Green

The last week on the recruiting trail has been extremely successful for Wisconsin landing three verbal commitments to their 2017 class. On Thursday, the Badgers landed in-state linebacker Jake Ferguson and Texas wide receiver Cade Green.

Green, although largely an under the radar recruit, was a big cog in the offensive machine that was Lake Travis’ 15-1 season in 2015. The Austin area team ran the regular season making it to the state championship game with Green pulling down a team-high 72 passes for 1,172 yards with 14 scores. The 5’11”, 185 pound, talent also ran the ball two times for 41 yards with an additional score. Green was also a difference maker as a punt returner fielding four attempts racking up 112 yards with one score.

Wisconsin won Green’s commitment over offers from Pennsylvania, Texas State, Bowling Green, Illinois, and North Texas. The Badgers were quick to close the deal with the offensive weapon offering him on March 17, landing him on March 31.

Ferguson was part of a Madison Memorial squad that went 8-3 in 2015. The 6’5”, 205 pound, athlete was a two-way star for the Spartans coming up with a team-high 63 receptions for 992 yards with eight touchdowns and doubled as a linebacker on defense.

The Badgers offered Ferguson in April of 2015. The Madison native has seen his recruiting interest grow with offers from Northern Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, and Iowa State. The bond with the Badgers seemed a forgone conclusion with Ferguson visiting campus on Jan. 23 and Feb. 28 leading to the March 31 commitment.

Wisconsin has a nice start to their 2017 class with seven verbal commitments. The other recent pick-up was Sayville High School 4-star quarterback Jack Coan out of the Long Island area in New York.
