Wolverines Land DeSoto Green Brothers Cornerback Duo out of Texas

Michigan’s 2018 recruiting class is taking shape in the secondary landing their third commitment defending the pass on Thursday when German and Gemon Green verbally pledged to the Wolverines.

As head coach Jim Harbaugh looks to establish a winning pedigree in Ann Harbor, why not recruit talent from one of the best high school teams in the nation to help bring in a championship winning attitude? Harbaugh and staff did just that with the Green twins after the duo helped DeSoto High School to a 16-0 season in 2016 finishing the year ranked No. 11 in the country, second best in the Lone Star State.

Gemon Green (6-2, 165) pushed his offer sheet to 24 programs wanting him after a 57 tackle and two interception season. The list of offerees included Oregon, Ole Miss, Texas Tech, Texas, Oklahoma, Purdue, Indiana, Baylor, Iowa State, and Tennessee. All the hard work on the field has also led to an invite to the Nike Opening Finals in Oregon this summer.

German Green did not record a stat for the Eagles in 2016 but has pushed his offers to 10 with Colorado, Tennessee, Fresno State, New Mexico, North Texas, Texas-San Antonio, Houston, Iowa State, and Oklahoma State recruiting him to their school. The brothers released a joint commitment statement on Twitter announcing their decision:

The Wolverines 2018 recruiting class is off to a fantastic start in the rankings with four of the seven commits considered four-star talents by 247Sports. Despite the high recruiting interest, both Green brothers are ranked three-star talents by 247Sports. Buford High School running back Christian Turner is also considered a three-star prospect.

Michigan’s 2018 class is now ranked No. 12 nationally and No. 6 overall in the Big Ten.
